About

Hello, my name is Sarah Adams (formerly Sarah Sweeney), a Web Developer and Programmer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I specialize in ColdFusion, PHP, and ASP web applications that integrate with back-end MS SQL Server, MySQL, and other databases. Thank you for visiting my portfolio — here you can find information on my education, including my BSc in Psychology and my Applied Information Technology Diploma, and the projects I have completed over the past nine years in the Web Development industry. Several formats of my resume are also available.

Most of the work I have done has involved integrating databases with dynamic websites, with two main functions: maintenance of website contents by the client (allowing the client to manage text content, product listings, and other tools available on the website), and effective presentation of site content to visitors (allowing visitors to view and search large amounts of information, purchase merchandise, and access other website tools). Beyond satisfying both clients and website visitors by delivering great results, I strive to make websites that look good and are easy to use for visitors at all levels of computer ability, and that are simple to maintain and able to change and grow with the clients’ needs.

I am always learning and using new skills in my work, with the aim of being flexible and able to meet clients’ needs and restrictions. My skills currently include: ColdFusion, PHP, ASP, JavaScript, VBScript,  HTML, XHTML, CSS, SQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Microsoft Access, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Windows, and MacOS. As with my technical skills, I am constantly working on ways to improve my non-technical skills and strengths, which include leadership, communication, flexibility, organization, effective time-management, working independently and/or collaborating with colleagues, and a willingness to jump into any project mid-stream.

Please feel free to browse through the information available in my portfolio, and to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
